本種は本州の他、韓国からも得られている。採集例が少なく生態は不明だが、クリやアカマツの花から得られており、シマアザミウマA. fasciatusと同様に花粉の他、他のアザミウマ等を摂食してるものと思われる。
ヨーロッパに分布するA. gloriosus Bagnall, 1914は本種によく似るが、触角第3節は基部1/3が淡色であること、脚は淡色であることなどで識別できる。

This species is known from Honshu and Korea. Their biology is not known but it has been collected from the flowers of Castanea crenata and Pinus densiflora. It may feed on the pollen and plant tissue other than small arthropods such as other thrips like A. fasciatus. A. gloriosus Bagnall, 1914, which is distributed in Europe, is very similar to this species but it can be distinguished form A. luteolus by antennal segment III with basal third pale and pale legs.
